Cost / Egress window
Every figure on this page was published by the company itself. We name it, link the page, and date the reading. Nothing here is an estimate, and no company paid to appear.
The window, bought direct
Manufacturer list price across 5 models, 3 of them code-compliant for egress.
The job, done by a contractor
26 published prices from 9 installers.
These are prices companies put on their own websites, not quotes given to us. Read the source page before you plan around any of them: some are a flat package, some are a starting point. Currently covering CO, IA, IN, MN, OH, PA, RI.
Where the money actually goes
What a contractor charges for is excavation, the window well, drainage tied into the footing drain, framing a new opening in the foundation, and backfill. That is why a few hundred dollars of window becomes a job in the thousands.
We read the pages installers publish, pull every amount that looks like a price, and put each one through three independent checks before it is allowed on the site. Amounts we cannot tie to an egress window are thrown out, and so far we throw out far more than we keep.
We also separate the price of a window from the price of a job. Mixing the two produces a range that describes nothing, which is exactly what most cost pages publish.
Companies that never answer us stay listed with whatever they publish publicly. Giving us prices does not move anyone up this page, and there is no paid placement here.
